Draw A Vampires Castle

Drawing a vampires castle is what I have done on my other art blog and I opted for the classic castle drawing that almost everyone knows.

In the following drawing tutorial I show you how to draw a fantasy castle and some of my subscribers seem to like it, although I could have done with expanding a bit on some of the details, but I think you get the idea with the drawing tutorial and drawing fantasy castles for vampires.

Useful Drawing Books Reviewed

Drawing books do have that knack of being very useful at times, they help you to draw stuff based on other artists way of working, but they also inspire you to draw your own stuff too, in particular there are a few books I've come across lately that have been useful for my own drawings and fantasy art and learning too.

I've reviewed these books elsewhere, but I'll give a quick run down through them with a short overview.

The first book is Keith Thompsons Draw and Paint The Undead, which delves obviously into the world of the undead with examples of art based on drawings and sketches and even finished art of many things like vampires, zombies and other various undead creatures of the night.

This book was a good read and it provided a useful resource, even though I thought it could have done with a few extra pages, but that minor quibble aside this book is quite fascinating, as it touches on a few creatures I've never even heard of before, so that's what makes it unique I guess.

You can read my review here - Drawing and Painting The Undead Book

Now the next one is a good one and one that surprised me as I thought it would be just a basic introduction into the world of drawing dragons, but I gained a good amount of useful information from this book and it helped me draw different dragons, based on some of the examples contained within.

How To Draw And Paint Dragons was a good book, that I often still reference for drawing dragon heads as there is a good section in there on that, but also, there is a wider section on dragon anatomy which proved useful.

The last book I reviewed was one I bought not so long ago, but as I was interested in drawing Manga I thought why not? The Monster book of More Manga: Draw Manga Like The Experts was the name of the book and it had straight forward drawing examples in ti that you could either copy or re-draw yourself to make them unique, I found this book more than enough, but then I also got distracted by another Manga book too which shows you how to draw Manga women which was nice too.

Drawing Manga can be difficult if you aren't used to this art form, as I wasn't, but I am becoming quite confident in a few areas of Manga and I hope to show you some Manga drawings some day.

I hope these art book reviews are useful, because I thoroughly enjoy a good art book that mainly inspires you to draw but also shows you how to draw stuff, particularly in an artists way that is different to your own.

Learn To Draw A Dragon Serpent - Watch The Video

Dragon serpents are great to draw as they essentially are dragons without any arms, legs or wings, just the dragon heads on a snakes serpent body, huge in comparison to normal size snakes and quite easy to draw, in the following video I did a quick sketch of a dragon serpent, mainly as an example of a concept drawing, but it is something that you can take away as a learning tool based on the drawing video.
I hope to do more dragon serpents in the future, hopefully finished complete drawings that inspire further, but you get the general idea with this one.

How To Create A Comic Book Page Art

Drawing a comic book page takes a lot of planning and it also takes a certain amount of skill to layout the page elements required to make it a sequential page that makes sense based on your first draft layout or thumbnail.

This is another Youtube video playlist which goes through some of the steps that I took to draw and then ink a comic book page and you can see every step of the way, so as to gain an understanding of the process

How To Draw A Ninja

Last week I did a quick how to draw a ninja video in three parts and I did a quick drawing tutorial on drawing a Japanese style black ninja, although I didn't ink the ninja, but I do go through the process of sketching up a ninja from scratch.

How to draw a ninja is a small playlist which has only 3 parts to it, so watch it all in one and see how to draw a ninja in the draft stage and development stage and then lastly the finishing off stage

To Draw A Vampire

Drawing vampires, I've either been inspired by the Tomb of Dracula comic books or the many vampire horror films that have gone by over the years, but in fact the silent movie Nosferatu was and always will be my main vampiric influence when drawing these night creatures.

The classic bald headed vampires just seem real cool to me to draw, as you can give them some bad ass evil eyes and no hair gets in the way

Importance Of Sketchbook Notes And Sketches

Old drawings and sketches should not be thrown away, because the use of such little snippets could form the basis of new characters, designs or creatures in your made up fantasy worlds, that's why I always file my old sketches away, because I know that I'll use them again someday.
